Before Steven was born Amethyst used to say ‘fuck’ all the time & so when he was a baby Greg had to sit her down and explain that she has to stop swearing around Steven because he’s young & impressionable
So Amethyst is like “but that’s my favourite word, when will be stop being young & impressionable so I can say it again??”
And Greg is like “uhh I don’t know, 15 I guess? 15 is probably old enough”
“Got it”
flash forward to Steven’s fifteenth birthday and he is woken at dawn by Amethyst yelling “wake the FUCK up Steven it’s FUCKING TIME”
& he spends the entire day losing his mind
Steven: w-what’s happening
Garnet: *deadpan* Amethyst just got her favourite word back
Amethyst: *running around the house* FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
Greg: what’s going on
Amethyst: you said once Steven was 15 I could say fuck again
Greg, who only hazily recalls the conversation in question: ……i DID?
Amethyst: *runs outside* FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK *distant sounds of spooked birds*
Rose Diamond is essentially the main antagonist of Steven Universe
Every single conflict goes right back to her impulsive asses poor decision making.
- Greg being a sad single father. Rose had no clue how make baby so decided to become baby.
- Spinel left in the garden because her horrible ass wanted to leave her there and let no one know.
- Pearl’s entire character arc is getting over her.
- Garnet never had the right timeline because of Roses Secrets and lies
- Amethyst just wanted a friend in Greg but he hooked up with Rose, bet you forgot how that episode defined her relationship with Rose.
- Bismuth was trapped in a bubble for so long because Rose was horrible at planning and she was about to figure it out.
- Jasper was fighting a war with herself because Rose was her Diamond the whole time.
- Lapis was trapped in a mirror because of the Puppet war Pink was playing.
- Peridot is era 2 because no Pink Diamond to make gems normally.
- Yellow Diamond made the forced fusion probably to see if she could revive pink.
- Blue grieved for thousands of years over a faked death
- White was so lost without Pink she focused on making the gempire perfect like the Diamond she is.
- Steven has to deal with all of this plus the other shit she caused.
Something that fucks me up about Spinel
(Spoilers for the SU movie)
Is how angry she is when Steven asks who she is. Moments before that in the song she asks what Pink had said about her. As if she’d been expecting her to be saying things behind her back, about how gullible and foolish she was.
Because Spinel still thought Pink was playing a game with her. She just thought that the game had actually been to humiliate and mock Spinel to all of her new friends. “Look at Spinel, she’s been standing in the garden all this time how ridiculous”, “She thinks I’m coming back for her, how gullible”, “She thinks I’m her friend, can you believe that?”
But none of Pink’s new friends have even heard of her. And suddenly Spinel, who’s already angry and lashing out, is forced to confront this awful new truth; that none of this was ever a game. That it wasn’t even a cruel joke Pink had played on her. Because to humiliate and ridicule someone you have to care enough to think about them.
“Who am I? Who am I?? What are you even saying?“
Spinel seemingly hadn’t even considered the possibility that this was not a game for Pink. It was just the easiest way to leave her behind and forget she ever existed.
Au where Pink takes Spinel to Earth with her. She becomes one of founding members of the crystal gems. She helps fight in the gem war. She realizes that she doesn’t need Pink to be happy and to have fun. She becomes her own gem. Au where Spinel is happy.

galaxy brain: pink diamond was fundamentally flawed but her tendency to manipulate other came from the fact that she was also abused by the other diamonds by being locked away, deprived of light and made to think she was at fault and this whole story revolves around a cycle of abuse
